With the new Google update “Penguin”, you may find your SEO report looking up at the ceiling. Because of the timing, which came into effect during the holidays, Google did not expect a lot of focus on their rankings to occur during the Christmas season.

So, there are still a lot of questions to be answered about what this update will mean for all of us who use the Google search engine. Some things we already know, and some of the details we haven’t yet figured out.

Right off the bat, it’s important to note that this isn’t going to affect us with a message from Google saying “hey! Let’s do a little thing, and make you feel like you’re doing something wrong!” No, the message that we should be dealing with is one of overzealous protection against spamming and spiders ruining the delicate balance of their internal structure.

So how does a client like you or I, who wants to boost our SEO through the power of blogging, feel about this? Some might be asking, why bother?

Well, the answer lies in the fact that when your business is on the rise, if you do not give it enough publicity, your page ranking is going to suffer. In this case, Google needed to protect itself from the spammy sites that could come online and even surpass their search rankings.

In my opinion, you can only use search engine optimization as a way to get your site out there. If it is a tactic to get your site higher than the competition using poor quality information, you will only be wasting your time.

After all, a good number of businesses today do not have the money to hire a full-time website designer or pay someone to put in some quality content, they simply hire a team of writers to produce their marketing and information to try to entice people to their site. The truth is, people can often see through the BS and don’t trust it.

So, with the new BS, we can always use more SEO to help build our site. And if we follow the guidelines of Google, it shouldn’t take too long before we begin to see improvements to our rankings.

The good news is that the Google update for SEO is going to change for the better in a few months. We won’t have to worry about feeling the pinch of the spikes in the rankings every so often.

If we are willing to invest some time and money into getting our site on the top sites, we will be rewarded in a few months. Google has already announced that they will be giving out some of their rankings back to some of the sites that were penalized last year.

I’m sure that at least some of those sites that were penalized in 2020 will receive some ranking points back to them. That makes sense, because Google did not want to take any more penalties than they had to.

Hopefully, this will bring some relief to people who are having a problem with their page rank. They may have been having problems with a few areas of their site, but now that there is some hope, they can start to focus on the other areas that are suffering and start to work on them.
