First off, Google can be cruel sometimes. One of their new tactics is called “All of the Above”, which basically means any method that is not Google’s tried and true methods. If Google puts a method on the side bar of your website that isn’t directly related to search engine optimization, it has a high chance of being removed. You can see some of the reason for this in the case of PBNs and all of the problems that can arise.
Backlinks – Since Backlinks have to be SEO friendly, it makes sense to leave them out of a PBN. I know I would rather go for backlinks directly from other sites because search engines like to index only “convenient” sites. However, you should consider putting your PBN link on a blog that has a lot of backlinks to it because that way you get a better ranking than you would get if you just published your link straight from your website.
Google’s PageRank – Most PBNs are SEO friendly because they include a free link building program that is tailored to keep your page at the top of the search engine results page. PageRank is what allows search engines to rank websites. Google will penalize your site if you have too many broken links, too many low quality backlinks, too many duplicate content issues, or if your site doesn’t have a lot of relevant, useful content.
Content -Some people feel that building a site with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the best way to go because it gets more organic traffic and it provides the best search engine rankings. This makes sense because most of the information you provide in your PBN will be about your business and most of the time you don’t want people looking for information about a product that you aren’t selling.
Free services – Many PBN companies offer free services to get your site ranked high in the search engines. This is great because they typically have good quality backlinks and organic traffic. However, in the case of an entire website, you don’t really want your backlinks to be coming from other websites.
Google Places – The Google Places program is meant to give advertisers a place to promote their products. It is mostly a free and easy way to advertise, but in order to rank well, you have to use it properly. Make sure you can link from your PBN to your Google Places ad if you want to use that feature, and make sure your ads are relevant and unique.
Google XML Sitemaps – Google is also working hard to make it easier for websites to crawl and submit XML sitemaps. This is one of the methods that Google is using to make it easier for Search Engines to crawl your site and index it, which is one of the biggest benefits of having a PBN.
Google Labs – This is similar to Google’s API and allows people to implement features into their websites that Google may be developing in the future. The main goal here is to help developers make their web pages more searchable and usable. It isn’t a bad thing by any means, but I personally wouldn’t recommend that you use it unless you have a really great reason to do so.
Google Analytics – Another tool that many PBNs offer, especially those that offer analytics. it is just another example of Google pushing people to buy their products. By tracking your analytics, you can see how many people are visiting your site and how many pages you have loaded, what keywords are used, and who are clicking on your links.
